It’s good Friday today in the United States, my friends over the international dateline have already had it. The film “The passion of the Christ” was playing last night, so I put it on. For some reason that movie is harder for me to watch now than it was, yet it still moves me. Since I think of Jesus as a real, relational part of the God-head, he’s very personal and close to me. Seeing him mistreated and beaten, and hung on a cross was like watching my dearest friend having that done to him.
Looking at Jim Caviezel’s portrayal, and just feeling Jesus’ passion for me. He did this for me, and I’m beyond in awe and beyond grateful for it. He did it all so he could have a relationship with me, so that nothing in the vast universe could keep Him from me, or His Love from me. The only one that can keep Him from me is me, and my mind. He’s always there, and that’s a reality that is really a freaky thing to think of. Either the thought will bring you joy, or bring you conviction. Today for me, it’s a mix of both. Thinking about His great Holiness, but His love reminds me of who he IS.
He’s my biggest fan, and the One who loves me first and more than anyone. I’m uncertain of whether he wanted me to have the challenges I do, or whether the fallen world we live in gave them to me. Whatever the case, His grace is sufficient for me, and for you reading.
It’s all about what you do with it? So what will YOU do with it.
John 3:16-17.
